A good story always starts with “a long time ago”… so here we go!
A small town boy from Secunda, grew up helping my grandfather at his dairy farm. Early morning Putupap, fresh milk, biltong and cheese will take me back in a second.
My parents made me fall in love with food, there where always a variety for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My older brother, who passed away at a very young age, didn’t have the ability to enjoy food, because of his health. When I showed up, my mother, bless her soul, was so rejoiced for having a healthy boy who enjoyed every dish she made. Food became an act of nurturing, appreciation, good health, love and celebration in our home.
So that being said, my journey, with falling in love with food, began when I was born. I was raised to honour others by giving something from myself to them, preparing food for loved ones is my love-language.
eg. When I got engaged, I prepared me and my wifes favourite dish, fresh dorado while smelling the salty sea.
Years gone by… played rugby with passion, studied my butt off to become a Charted Accountant at RAU. Married my highschool sweetheart Roné and the Father blessed us with two happy and healthy kids.
My journey with food didn’t end and I got the opportunity to be on KOKKEDOOR Vuur en Vlam 2023, where I got through to the Semi-finals. It was the start of my new journey. I realized that God blessed me with this amazing talent to bless others, by preparing them food from the heart.
So this is my way to not cover-up my talent, but by sharing it with you.
